By 2050, the globe is anticipated to create 3.40 billion tons of waste per year, up from 2.01 billion tons presently. What a Waste 2.0: A Global Snapshot of Solid Waste Management to 2050 report by the World Bank collects significant solid waste management data at the national and municipal levels. It calculates and forecasts waste generation between 2030 and 2050. The study includes information on waste management costs, revenues, tariffs, particular wastes, legislation, public communication, administrative and operational models, and the informal sector, in addition to the vital data metrics from waste creation through disposal.
