We’re excited to announce the launch of “Product Carbon Footprint,” our brand-new calculation service. We help businesses figure out their carbon footprint and devise ways to make their operations less harmful. Product Carbon Footprint is considered not just CO2 emissions but also the other six emissions. A “Product Carbon Footprint” study is a sort of “Life Cycle Assessment” (LCA) one. A “carbon footprint” is a measurement that includes not just carbon dioxide emissions but also other greenhouse gas emissions. The word “carbon footprint” derives from the phrase “carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases of equivalent CO2.”
How much each type of greenhouse gas affects the climate is based on how much carbon dioxide it produces in CO2-eq. This is because different greenhouse gases have varying capacities to contribute to climate change.
These other gases are:
- Methane (CH4)
- Nitrous oxide (N2O)
- Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
- Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
- Sulphur hexaflouride (SF6)
- Nitrogen trifluoride (NF3)
